Your Best Relationship

The most important thing that can be learned from historical Israel’s example is that God cannot be mocked. Sin is not a light matter and it will be punished. We cannot claim to be his people and then do whatever we want, expecting God to ignore our behavior. We may get away with that with earthly parents but God is not human and he has no faults. Making a living sacrifice means that we daily, continually surrender to God, letting Him love us beyond salvation from hell.

When my son was younger, he thought that at the moment you accepted Christ, God would immediately take you to heaven. After I explained how it worked, he accepted Christ with joy. I had only heard of people not wanting to give up sin but he didn’t want to give up being with his family. Well no son, there’s a life here that still has purpose to be fulfilled there’s more than just salvation from hell and God means for you to benefit from it and God works through Christians to add something to the lives of others, to reach even more people for Christ.

Give God you. Be tender-hearted, broken, vulnerable, humble. Don’t be afraid. Faith takes stepping out on what you know about him and being sure of his existence even though you haven’t seen him with your physical eyes. You will see him with your heart when you know him, when you experience what the Scripture describes.

He is worthy of our trust. Ignorant arrogance says that we can do life on our own. This is madness. It’s definitely a lack of understanding. Stop. God wants closeness. He wants appreciation and he wants to bless. Don’t think you’re entitled though. God owes us nothing. God is loving and kind and we are needy. While we were yet sinners Christ died for us but he didn’t die so that we could ignore him and sin without consequence. Being a part of God’s family is a big deal. Don’t take this experience for granted. Love God with your trust and obedience. Truly appreciate him.

Consider the Right to Defend Oneself

As mentioned in Scripture, the Israelites desired to be like the nations around them and came to worship their gods, the Baals and Asherah, also called the Queen of Heaven. This consort of Baal was worshipped as Asherah, Astarte, Artemis, Athena, Isis, Gaia, Nana, Austron, Ostara, Eastre, Easter, Aphrodite, Eostre, Astoreth, Ishtar, Diana, Ninurta, Cres, Nut, Venus, Indrani, Devaki, Tanit, and others.

Remember that the false gods Israel worshipped came from the nations that surrounded them, so if Israel can be punished for the worship of false gods so can the other natons which tempt her to go astray. And likewise, if the nations can be turned to repent and follow the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, then so can Israel. And Israel will be returning as the prodigal son much celebrated.

Not all of Israel worships false gods and in the same way not all America or other nations worships false gods but so many people do and so there is misunderstanding, a lack of knowledge and still punishment for sin. Believers live among unbelievers and struggle against evil daily. May God bless us to be a godly influence in Christ Jesus the Messiah. May we continue to cofess our sins and humbly submit to Christ as we are being conformed to his likeness. And as the world sits in judgment of Israel which is defending herself, may it remember that the same measure used to judge Israel will be used to judge the world.

Hamas is a known terrorist organization which has no problem shedding innocent blood to get its way. It currently forces martyrdom onto the Palestinians by using the people as human shields and is stockpiling weapons in childrens schools. Using the basic rulles of warfare, Hamas and any other terrorist group is legally responsible for the deaths they cause. Israel is exercising her right to defend herself, however, she isn’t getting the support of the nations because right and wrong have shifted for the sake of politics and misguided emotions. You can see it all over broadcast through our Liberal media outlets. The idea that guns are unneccesary because self defense is no longer a right in a modern society. This is not right and it’s preparation for something devastating. It’s coming and the same measure by which we judge what good people do is the same measure by which bad will be judged. Politics are no excuse.

Mature Women Know the Difference

God owes no one because no can earn salvation or love and he is kind and merciful because he is God. No one can give him anything and he’s not dependent on us or anyone else. That is the order of things. This is how God designed things so that they work properly. There is order and then there’s chaos. Love comes from above and the proper response to love is respect and gratitude. If there is some kind of payment or if gain is sought, what seems like love becomes something else. If something is expected in return, then the giver’s motives are impure. Love gives and does not seek to gain. It does not give in order to get. All that can be expected is respect and gratitude. That is the proper attitude of the receiver of love. There is choice on both sides in the exchange. The lover chooses freely to love and the beloved chooses to accept or reject but it is also done freely. There is no force. And He says, if you want to be the head, you must sacrifice. You must serve. If you want. We know this from our relationships in our families. Husbands love their wives, wives show respect out of gratitude and wives (and fathers) love their children and children show respect of gratitude. And then it is also said that this is a choice. If you desire to marry you must do these things. if the order gets out of order you can see the results in the reactions, in the lack of gratitude, respect and love. Dysfunction results from disorder. No one argues that sugar does not belong in a fuel tank of a car, much less, wood finish and likewise no one should argue with God’s advice on the proper workings of his design.

God is relational and his truth is best reflected in the relationship between man and wife when a man cares for his bride, not demanding in any way that she be made to earn his love.If she is not familiar with love, she will have a desire to be loved but will not know how it works. She will think that she needs to find someone to love so that he can love her. That’s earning love which is not possible. If she thinks she can earn it, she will think he owes her. That’s not love. That’s dysfunction. She will sacrifice herself and her self respect in order to earn what can’t be earned. The husband gives and provides much like a father should because he chooses to love. When a man chooses to become a father and when a man chooses to become a husband, he chooses to love. It has to be his free will, his choice. If a daughter or a wife has to earn what she gets, that’s not love, that is a wage and then she has made herself like an orphan and a prostitute in a sense. If you were to give your child a gift and that child felt as if he had to earn the gift, the dynamics of the relationship would change. The gift would no longer be a gift. Parents provide for their children without cost because they love their children and they chose to have them and their love flows down to their children. And children are to respond with respect and gratitude. Deviations from the design is dysfunction.

Having to earn love results in a developed insecurity about having to prove individual worthiness in order to receive love. That insecurity confuses the proper order and love does not fulfill that desire to be accepted. Love fulfills deep emotional, pstchological and physical needs. Love is a choice. It is unconditional and does not depend on any reaction or respond but a grateful receiver will respond properly. An improper response to love is entitlement. Love cannot come from a sense of obligation in exchange for services rendered. That is an entitlement. That is debt and love cannot be a debt. The debt we owe for love is respect and gratitude and thanks. Knowing this comes from acknowledging that we are not entitled to anything. Admitting to the reality of who we are sets the record straight and puts our attitudes in check. The reason why we don’t earn love is because love would otherwise not be able to love us, the unworthy, the unloveable.

While we were yet sinners, Christ loved us and gave himself for us because we needed him to do something we could never do. Women need husbands who are willing to do the same. Men are made differently and women need their love. It may sound offensive to some because it hurts their pride but oh well. It is what it is. If we could save ourselves, if babies could come out taking care of themselves, if we had the ability to make ourselves perfect, we would not need love. If we were so worthy and were able to earn love, love would not be a big deal and we would have no reason to be grateful. We all have a lot to be grateful for. The God of the universe, Creator of all things loves us not because we are righteous and worthy or entitled but because he just does. This is hard to wrap your brain around if you grew up with human parents who weren’t God and who made mistakes. We should be a little familiar with the concept through childbearing. I guess that’s what that verse means–“women will be saved through childbirth.” Love is easier to understand when you have to love.

We wouldn’t need to show respect if we didn’t need love or had to earn it. Love would not be a sacrifice. Wives cannot initiate love relationships with husbands because we did not initiate the relationship between us and God. Love has an order of operation and it flows down. Women love their children and respect their husbands. They cannot love their husbands the way they love their children but pride will tell them that they can and what results is dysfunction. Let’s just say that no man wants to love his wife like he loves his mother and no mother should love her husband like she loves her son and of course vice versa. I’ve seen this type of dysfunction where a wife and mother treats her son as if he was her husband and her husband she treats as if he were her son. She doesn’t get love she desires from her husband and her son is already bound to his mother in an unhealthy intimate (hopefully without sex) and cannot connect with his wife properly. Women cannot do things for men and offer their bodies (sex) as a sacrifice to earn love because Christ was the one who offered himself as a righteous and holy and pure sacrifice out of love to save us. Women cannot save men without making them feel like little boys and men cannot be heroes if they are still being cared for by their mothers. Boys grow up hopefully watching their fathers love their mothers and hope to find a woman they can themselves love, a woman who will respect them the way their mother has respected their father. Women accept the gift of love with thanks and respect because no man is obligated to love any woman and they understand that. Jesus said for wives to respect their own husbands. Their loyalties don’t need to be divided. Pride lies and says that we are worth it and every man should be interested. No, that’s the beauty of love. We can never be worthy, so it’s nice that with love we don’t have to be.

Out of Focus

I wanted to try to capture fireworks out of focus, below is the one I captured, kind of looks like a painting.

This one kind of reminds me of a wedding bouquet.

We watched the fireworks on a hill, in the community that we’re going to be moving to. Great view of the High Desert Mavericks Stadium, the San Bernardino Fairgrounds and even a good view of the fireworks in the mountains.

Try a Little Gratefulness

I have been reading slowly through Isaiah and Jeremiah lately because I am so interested in what’s going on in Israel, God’s timepiece, many call her because she is the center, the chosen, Christianity began with her and now she is coming center stage again after about a 2 thousand year break. I, of course, could be off in my calculations because I’m only counting from the time the Messiah left. I have no idea how much time lies between the Old and the New Testaments. I’m sure Jewish historians and maybe the Catholic church have some idea but I digress. Many Biblical events are set by what is going on in this the chosen land and so we are told to watch Israel closely.

Contrary to popular belief in America, America is not the center of attention. It’s nice that there were considerable efforts made to try to ensure that this country remained true to the God who blessed her; however, America has never been the center of attention where the Bible is concerned and she has let go of what little significance she once held and by that I mean that America had a strong Christian base that carried with it, respect for God and less of an unhealthy attraction for all and only that which God can give. The focus here has shifted. American Christian has gotten fat and comfortable and thus watered down. Wealth is not bad of itself. God wants to bless those in the church so that there can be generosity towards the needy but has the church here been responsible with the little? It is the love of money that is the root of all kinds of evil. The love of money will cause people to do all kinds of evil in order to get more and more of it and money cannot replace God. For that matter, neither can experience, education, neither can the excitement of a new anything or anyone replace the relationship one is capable of experiencing with the Creator. Again though, I digress.

Before I began this current read through this section, God called to my attention all the Israel-abuse that has become more politically fashionable lately and then from that there is this temptation to pronounce the response of well intended well-wishing for all of Israel without a thought given to what the Scripture says about who say to her, peace peace. Despite what we see, we do not live by sight but by faith in what God says is truth. I, being a Christian, am fully aware of the command to love God’s chosen people and to pray for their salvation but what are we to do with passages which talk about offering her false security. The false prophets were telling Israel that she was going to have continued peace when in fact judgment was on its way in the form of captivity under Babylonian rule. The people were in sin against God but were told that they could have confidence in their heredity for salvation. They were led to believe that because they were Israelites, they were saved by the inherrant virtue of being born Jewish. They missed that God had chosen Abraham to be father of a nation that would live by His righteousness and be an example to the world if they would be careful to obey God and live by His righteousness. Israel would be instrumental in leading the nations to seek God as Savior of all.

The Scripture warns against false testimony and it also talks about the importance of spanking. Love is not all mushy feelings with no discipline. God is our highest example and he spanks. He also endorses spanking. The misconception I see played out today is that corporal punishment is cruel and that children learn to be violent from its application but what people miss to recognize is that what is cruel is the double standard. A child is not automatically dumb because of his age. He simply lacks much experience in the handling of craftiness. A child can see contradictions but he may not have learned how to make excuses. A child can pick up on lies but he still hasn’t learned how not to call his mother out in front of her admired guests. When a parent tries to apply discipline but refuses to be disciplined, the child sees either that the parent or the discipline as a lie. The parent gives hugs and kisses but discipline is unpleasant. What is a child going to choose–maturity or childish ways?

It is a tough spot for a child to be placed in. Many adults don’t maturity because they weren’t trained to choose it early on. This is what exasperates children. Asking a child to evaluate contradictions involving their parents and discipline and to come out of it with the right perspective about God. But parents are not without sin. How is this dealt with? The child sees the error of his parents and he sees the pain of discipline. He can say that his parent is wrong and conclude that rebellion is an appropriate choice. He can accept the idea that his parents have made an isolated error and reject discipline alone. He can see that the parents submit to the authority over them and accept that discipline is for everyone. He can even develop a victim mentality.

Aside from any of man’s opinions about sin and discipline, God is always right so the correct perspective is to understand that everyone sins and everyone is disciplined by authority–either it be in the form of parental authority, the authority of the law or God’s authority over all. Sin is always dealt with. Either it is forgiven or it is punished. Christ made the greatest and only acceptable sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin, however, his sacrifice has been rejected by many either because there is a misunderstanding about personal culpability, there is the idea that good deeds can suffice as personal rectification for the situation of personal violation, or denial that any of this is real. Where do the nations stand on this issue?

Nations are often discribed as having a collective personality because the people have experienced pretty much the same history and thus have developed a peculiar consensus of ideas. The people are generally of one accord. They generally act a certain and speak a certain language. When God speaks of peoples, in Scripture, he uses this collective tone often. For example, Israel is described as a people who have turned away from and rejected God, however, not all of Israel has turned away of course. In the End Times a remnant will be saved and then it is said that all of Israel will be saved but then the Scripture describes that ‘all’ as being the part of Israel that has not simply relied on being the children by blood but who are children by faith. We can pray that the faithful children be saved while reading through and understanding the warning against believing that everyone will be saved regardless of what God says about hell and eternal punishment. Israel as a whole will suffer but the remnant will be saved. God does not lie nor does he bring this disaster on anyone. Let the truth of God be fully understood and accepted. May your heart and mind be free from contradiction as they are washed by His Word.

The End of Us

When folks are talking about what there isn’t enough of, they’re not talking about land. Population control is about money and the fear that there isn’t enough money to keep the rich rich and keep the consciouses of the rich clear from thoughts of the pesky poor. Californians for Population Stabilization has this quote on their website:

“Unlike the plagues of the dark ages or contemporary diseases (which) we do not yet understand, the modern plague of overpopulation is soluble by means we have discovered and with resources we possess. What is lacking is not sufficient knowledge of the solution, but universal consciousness of the gravity of the problem and the education of the billions who are its victims.” -Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Now I know some Black leaders have been working with pro-abortion groups since the 20s and maybe even before, thinking that more poor Blacks meant that Blacks would never succeed in becoming upwardly mobile but that is wrong. God is the God of everyone not just Jews or Whites or even Blacks and he says that it’s not a large population that causes problems but it is any sized population that doesn’t have and honor God.

This from CAPS Californians for Population Stabilization:

Demographic Transition: (1) The historical shift of birth and death rates from high to low levels in a population. The decline of mortality usually precedes the decline in fertility, thus resulting in rapid population growth during the transition period. (2) The transition from a traditional demographic regime in which fertility and mortality are high to a modern regime in which fertility and mortality are much lower. The transition from a so-called regime of “natural” fertility (not controlled by couples) towards a regime of “controlled” fertility may be referred to as a fertility transition. The period during which mortality decreases is referred to as an epidemiological transition or a health transition. It is accompanied by improved health, nutrition and organization of health services and a change in the causes of death, infectious diseases disappearing progressively in favor of chronic and degenerative diseases and accidents.

Twice as many people die than are born but those for controlling or limiting the population seem to forget that or try to betray the facts in order to support their agenda. If God wants to stop us from reproducing, he can and has. It is being reported that, although Muslim countries are attempting to out-number and therefore dominate non-Muslim countries, Muslim populations are experiencing a dramatic drop in birth rates in a period of approximately 30 years.

It is said to be a medical miracle in itself when any woman conceives. We don’t need to try to control anything as far as whether or not a child is carried to term and birthed. We lack concern for people especially when those people need compassion. If all people were rich and lived far enough away from neighbors, totally isolated, they’d find something to fight over. That is just our sinful nature and Satan will try to see to it that he can use our sins against us to get us to assist him in getting rid of us completely.

Living green won’t help us. Aborting babies won’t help us. Water conservation won’t help us. Our end will come because it must. We don’t get to live here, in these bodies forever. We know this but so many continue to deny what needs to be done. Reconnecting with the Creator is the only way. His ways are not our ways. Our own imaginations have led us to this, our own destruction. God did not have this in mind when he made us. Accepting Christ Jesus his only Son and his offer of complete salvation, a chance to reconcile with God, an opportunity for rebirth is what is left. There is no saving this earth. Our lives are in shambles. We are wrecked. We have reached our limit but God is never weak. He is never at a lost. His plan is to save us, make us and create a new heaven and a new earth.
